Former President Pranab Mukherjee haemodynamically stable, says son Abhijit

The 84-year-old former President has undergone a "life-saving brain surgery" and has tested positive for coronavirus.

Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s is haemodynamically stable, his son Abhijit Mukherjee said in a tweet today. Pranab Mukherjee has been on ventilator support since Monday when he was admitted to the New Delhi-based Army Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital in a critical condition.

The 84-year-old former President has undergone a “life-saving brain surgery” and has tested positive for coronavirus.

Giving an update on his father’s heath, Abhijit Mukherjee in a tweet said, “With all your prayers, my father is haemodynamically stable now. I request everyone to continue with your prayers and good wishes for his speedy recovery. Thank You.”

Earlier in the day, the Army Hospital said Pranab Mukherjee continues to be critical and he remains on ventilator support.

On Monday, he was operated for removal of a blood clot in the brain. “Shri. Pranab Mukherjee’s health condition continues to remain critical. Presently he is haemodynamically stable and on a ventilator,” a statement from the hospital said.

The condition of the former president had worsened on Tuesday and he had not shown signs of improvement, the doctors attending on him said.
